Workshop on GNSS Jamming

There was a workshop on GNSS jamming on 26-27 September 2013 in Aachen, Germany where the problem of jamming especially with low-cost GNSS jammers and the results of our DETECTOR project was presented. Participants were invited to share their view in short pitches (max.3 minutes).

Session 1 - Intro
Introduction to Workshop
Overview of GNSS Threats and Mitigation

Session 2 - GNSS User Perspectives
Insights from users with a reliance on GNSS.  Brings together representatives from different applications in which GNSS use has some level of criticality.  Aiming to understand if RF interference is a significant issue for current or future operations.  What do these users need to ensure robust positioning?

A series of short presentations from users followed by discussion to share views and identify common needs. 

Session 3 - RFI Projects and Solutions
Updates on projects and initiatives which aim to assess and respond to the RFI threat.  This will include technical solutions focusing on mitigation through equipment design, and summaries of regulatory and legal tools. Detector Project overview - giving an introduction to the project and the demonstrations.

Discussion on how well these initiatives meet the identified user needs.

Session 4 - Demonstration of Detector at ATC
Jammers, receivers and detection equipment will be demonstrated at a road test site.  This will show the impact which jammers have on different types of receiver.  Demonstrations will show the ability of the Detector system to automatically detect and characterize and classifying them.

Session 5 - Way Ahead
What are the next steps?
E.g. Do we need better knowledge and monitoring of the potential threat of RFI?
If so, how could this best be done?
How can EC supported work (e.g. in Horizon 2020) best meet the needs of users?
