Detector
Validation at automotiveGATE, ATC Aldenhoven
The DETECTOR prototype was validated using jammers in a realistic road environment at the AutomotiveGATE test site in Germany in May 2013. DETECTOR probes were set up on an overhead gantry and at the roadside and were connected to a Back Office facility. Jammers were used in a variety of vehicles travelling at different speeds and in configurations deliberately design to shield the jammers from the DETECTOR probes. As well as using static probes, tests were also carried out with a probes in a moving vehicle, detecting both static and mobile jammers. A tablet PC providing a portable RFI detection and characterization capability was also tested.
Under all trial conditions DETECTOR was able to detect jammers over long distances, to accurately characterize the jammer signals, and to correctly classify the type of jammer. The change in received power as the jamming vehicle passed the probe provided accurate profiles, allowing the target vehicle to be located. The automated processing and communication between the roadside probes and Back Office was successfully demonstrated.
The tests have been carried out in the automotiveGATE facility of Aldenhoven Testing Center of RWTH Aachen University (click for more information)
